From the mouth of the Pielach on the Danube, this connecting DUR leads over the Steinwandleiten to Pielachberg and on to Neubach. A detour to the Pielach nature reserve is worthwhile here: Neubacher Au-Ofenloch, where Angus and Galloway cattle graze. Via Albrechtsberg we pass through the Ofenloch to Neuhofen and then on to Pielachhäuser. This connecting DUR can be ideally combined with DUR6, DUR8 or DUR V2.
Sturdy hiking boots, rain protection, sufficient drinks and snacks as well as the Dunkelsteinerwald hiking map.
We begin our connecting DUR at the Pielach Mouth and hike upstream along the Steinwandleiten to Pielachberg. In town we turn right to the playground and then right again. Through the playground and the recreational area we reach the state road, which we cross. On the right, Galloway cattle accompany us until the first turning option. Here we turn left and immediately right again, then hike straight ahead. In Neubach the path leads left, but a visit to the Pielach nature reserve: Neubacher Au-Ofenloch is worthwhile. With some luck, Angus and Galloway cattle can be seen. Back on the connecting DUR, after the first houses we turn right and proceed on the foot and cycle path to the state road, where we go right to Albrechtsberg (place to eat). Before the Pielach bridge we go left and reach a towpath that takes us through the Ofenloch to the next state road, which we cross. After crossing we follow the road to Neuhofen to the center. After the lovingly renovated barn of the Mauer music band, we turn right and hike along the Pielach to the destination.
Free parking is available at the Pielach Mouth and in Pielachhäuser.
