Accessibility statement

1. Status of compliance with requirements

Due to the following incompatibilities/exceptions, these websites are partially compliant with conformity level AA of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.2" and with the applicable European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) in accordance with Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the accessibility requirements for products and services.

2. Non-accessible/partially accessible content

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:

a. Incompatibility with accessibility regulations / disproportionate burden

  • PDF and Word documents (especially older documents) used on the websites are not accessible. If you require content from one of our PDF or Word documents, please contact us. We will endeavour to provide you with the information in another format.
  • The videos used on our websites are currently not accessible. Adapting them would constitute a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We endeavour to make new videos accessible as soon as possible.
  • The alternative texts for some images are not optimally chosen, but we are working on making all images accessible to screen reader users with alternative texts. Editors are being made aware of this issue and trained accordingly.
  • We endeavour to write our texts largely without abbreviations and foreign words. We also avoid complicated sentence structures. If you find a text difficult to understand and therefore only partially accessible, please contact us. We will try to provide you with an easily understandable version.
  • Lists such as accommodation lists, event lists, restaurant lists, POI lists (Excursion destinations), offer lists and location and region lists are based on structured data from our tourism database and are currently only partially accessible.
  • The layout of the web pages has been adapted to the display surfaces of the respective end devices. Setting the "viewport" tag to "maximum-scale=1" prevents a zoom function. Fixing this would have a serious impact on the layout.
  • Several pages contain 'iframe' elements without labels.
  • Some pages contain links without link text.
  • The visual presentation of text and images containing text does not always have the required minimum contrast ratio. (apart from the exceptions provided for in the regulations, e.g. for logos)

The listed incompatibilities with the accessibility regulations are being corrected on an ongoing basis.

b. The content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions

  • Recorded time-based media, such as video and audio media, published before 28 June 2025.
  • Interactive maps are currently not accessible. However, the information from the map is available in an accessible format on our website.
  • Third-party content: Our websites are based in part on content from a decentralised tourism database. Our content partners are required to provide texts and media in an accessible format. However, no statement can be made regarding the compliance of this third-party content with accessibility regulations.

3. Creation of the accessibility statement

This statement was created on 10 June 2025.
The statement was created on the basis of an assessment of the websites' compliance with the BaFG carried out by Donau Niederösterreich Tourismus GmbH in the form of a self-test according to WCAG 2.2.

4. Feedback and contact details

The content of the websites is subject to ongoing changes and additions. To take this into account, it is also continuously reviewed by our employees. Usability and accessibility are very important to us.
If you encounter any barriers on our websites that hinder or restrict your use, please let us know by sending an email to: office@donau.com
In this case, please briefly describe the problem and provide the URL of the website or document concerned. We will review your request and contact you as soon as possible.
