The Urbanushof – Paul Stierschneider Winery in Oberloiben is a family-run winery with a long tradition, whose roots date back to 1696. The Stierschneider family tends to their vineyards around Loiben with great dedication and places great importance on bringing out the fruitiness, freshness, and character of each vintage to the fullest.
The wine tavern at the Urbanushof opens twice a year. Guests can then indulge in the house wines in a cozy atmosphere while enjoying homemade bread and hearty snacks. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are also available. Wine is served not only inside the restaurant but also in the garden, the courtyard, and a tasting room above the wine cellar. The view of the Dürnstein ruins rounds out the experience.
The style of the wine tavern and the wine shop reflects the winery’s philosophy: meticulous, in harmony with nature, and focused on quality. In the cellar, the focus is on “controlled inaction,” meaning interventions are kept to a minimum and performed only to the extent necessary to preserve the quality and the terroir.
