The Pfeffel Winery combines a long tradition of winemaking with the unique cultural landscape of the Wachau region. In the vineyards surrounding Dürnstein, the vines thrive in select Wachau sites. With a great deal of artisanal skill and respect for nature, the winery produces characterful wines that reflect the region’s terroir.
The selection ranges from fresh Grüne Veltliner to elegant Riesling, including full-bodied Smaragd wines. Guests can taste the wines right at the winery and get to know the estate and vineyards better on a vineyard walk.
For wine lovers, we recommend taking a look at the well-curated wine list at the evening restaurant. In addition to the well-known wines of the Wachau, you can sample the entire selection from the hotel’s own premium winery. And if you’re looking for a cozy way to wind down in the evening, you’re sure to find it at the hotel’s inviting bar, which also offers the hotel’s own brandies and liqueurs by the glass.
Sustainability is a top priority at the Gartenhotel. In addition to a 2,000-square-meter vegetable garden, the hotel also has its own apiary and a goat farm. The fruit comes from the hotel’s own trees, such as the famous Wachau apricot, and fresh eggs from the hotel’s own chicken coop and fresh natural juices are also available.
