Art on the river
As leisurely as the Danube takes its course, as leisurely as the ferry "sails" across the river: Anyone arriving in the Wachau idyll of St. Lorenz is nevertheless "a nose ahead". At the ferry landing stage, one of these protrudes mightily from the riverbank. Big enough to enter the nostrils! Or is this work by the Austrian artist group Gelitin just the tip of the nose of a buried giant? Please don't dig it up ;- )

Almost inconspicuously, we encounter an almost 2,000-year-old witness to history here in St. Lawrence: the building leaning against the church to the south contains the foundation walls of a Roman fortification tower - a burgus. Ancient wall remains are still visible as a spandrel between the church wall and the roof of the building.
