Hiking tour Starting from
Our hike starts from Willendorf, which became famous for the Palaeolithic female figure "Venus of Willendorf". Here we can visit the enchanting Paleolithic museum "Venusium" and trace 25,000 years of human history at the site where the Venus was found. First we follow a small asphalt road along the Willendorf stream to the lovely "mountain village" of Köfering with its bell tower and a wayside shrine to the Virgin Mary. Breathtaking views of the legendary Aggstein ruins on the opposite bank of the Danube await us. We reach Groisbach via a wonderful meadow path and a hollow path and walk back to Willendorf between meadows and apricot orchards. The hiking trail (No. 21) is uniformly signposted with yellow signs throughout.
