Vogelwaide is much more than a traditional winery—it is a joint labor of love for Daniel Vogelwaid and Michael Donabaum. Since 2019, the two have been pursuing their own vision of how wine should be made: free from convention, shaped by patience, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for nature.

The focus is on old, often abandoned vineyards in and around the Wachau region, to which they breathe new life. Through extensive manual labor, natural cultivation methods, and minimal intervention in the cellar, they produce wines with strong character that authentically reflect their origin, vintage, and personality. Time plays a central role in this process—both in the vineyard and in the cellar, where the wines are allowed to mature undisturbed before being bottled.

The two men’s different backgrounds complement each other perfectly: While Daniel brings his international experience from renowned wine regions across Europe to the cellar, Michael combines his roots in the Wachau with a keen sense of design, communication, and the project’s identity. Together, they create wines that reinterpret traditional Wachau grape varieties, always placing elegance, drinking pleasure, and individuality at the center.

Von der Vogelwaide stands for courage, creativity, and a conscious look beyond the boundaries of traditional winemaking—without ever losing touch with the region. The result is authentic wines with character that tell stories and allow you to experience the Wachau from a new perspective.
