Description
Eckartsau Castle made world history in 1918: the last Austrian imperial couple, Emperor Karl and Empress Zita, spent the months before their departure into exile here. The daily castle tours tell of these moving moments. The castle surprises visitors with its exceptionally well-preserved condition and its lovingly furnished interior, which evokes the feeling that the emperor has only just departed.
The Wild°Wechsel national park exhibition not only whets your appetite for a walk in the Au, but also allows you to trace the history of this landscape back to the 19th century. Discover the habitat and find out why the white-tailed eagle would be suitable for the job of a pilot and which animal would fit the job profile of a lifeguard or detective.
Tip: Nature playground in the castle park, House of the Tree - walk-in art installation, Spähikel: High-tech nature observation car, Eckartsau village walk and the Eckartsau Danube circuit round off the visit perfectly.
