Quiet forests, tranquil forest paths and moving nature are the cornerstones of the hiking stage from Droß to Gföhl: a relaxed tour that feels like a vacation.
The Droß - Gföhl stage starts right in the center of Droß and leads along idyllic forest and woodland paths to the Poberkreuz. At this point it is possible to shorten the hike and walk down to Senftenberg via Bannholz. However, the regular route continues in the direction of Herzogentisch to the mighty granite boulders with incredible views: Picturesque views stretch from the Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) to Göttweig Abbey and even far into the foothills of the Alps. Via the Hussite cross, the hike finally leads to its destination in Gföhl. There, the baroque parish church of St. Andrew invites you to make an impressive last stop and thus a fitting end to a relaxed and interesting hiking tour.
Please note the following tips and advice so that your hiking holiday becomes a pleasant experience:
The hiking/use of the suggested routes is at your own risk and responsibility.
Opposite the castle entrance in Droß, we follow the street "Im Geißeck", the Föhrenteichstraße up to Sportplatzstraße where we turn left. 100 m later, continue to the right, north past the sports facility to the forest. Here, you can make a detour to the idyllic Föhrenteich (no swimming allowed). The stage itself continues straight through the forest where we soon reach the Poberkreuz. Here, there is the possibility to shorten the route and hike down via Bannholz to Senftenberg. However, we stay on our main route and walk towards Herzogentisch to the mighty granite blocks. Past the turnoff to Schanzenriegel, always along the municipal boundary Senftenberg – Droß. After about 1 ½ hours, we reach the Öhlgrabenbach, which we follow upstream, and after another hour arrive at the Hussitenkreuz. From there, it goes along Alte Langenloiser Straße towards the town. Attention, at the next roundabout there are still no regulated pedestrian crossings! Langenloiser Straße takes us, passing the outdoor pool, into the center. Our stage ends at the parish church St. Andreas on the main square of Gföhl.
