Description

The hike from Hollenburg to Gedersdorf initially runs directly along the Danube. The special ambience created by the river during the first few kilometers of the stage is only surpassed by the floodplain landscape that follows. The wild and romantic route continues through the idyllic floodplain to the village of Tisza, then across fields and orchards to Brunn im Felde. The stage finish in Gedersdorf is reached shortly afterwards. Wine taverns invite you to enjoy regional delicacies here. The well-earned snack tastes even better with a fantastic view of the wine terrace landscape sloping down to the Danube.

Route description From the main square in Hollenburg, we continue our hike on Sportplatzweg, passing under the underpass towards the Danube cycle path. We walk approximately 2.5 km downstream along this path to the St. Georgs Bridge. Caution: this section has many cyclists! Alternatively, we could use the parallel gravel path next to the floodplain.We cross the bridge to reach the north side of the Danube. Once across, we walk about 2.4 km upstream along the cycle path before turning right through the floodplain to reach the village of Theiß. We follow Untere Hauptstraße to Stratzdorfer Straße, then head north on this street and afterwards turn right onto Güterweg. We march through fields and orchards, pass under the underpass by the gravel pits until we reach Brunn im Felde and shortly after Gedersdorf, where numerous Heuriger invite you to visit. The stage ends at the Gedersdorf chapel.
