Hiking tour Starting from Klein-Pöchlarn, Market Square
The red Grabenhäuserweg is a challenging loop. At the start, it leads uphill past a church and chapel. Continue on gravel with a view of Melk Abbey and the Danube power station. The route continues slightly uphill until km 3.35. In the forest, it continues on a gravel road until you come out of the forest at km 5.50 and again have a beautiful view of the Danube. The route leads back downhill on asphalt to the starting point.

· Stay on the marked trails.
· Wear hiking boots.
· Use hiking poles.
· Rain gear is always advisable.
· Bring a hiking map with you.
· Carry enough drinking water with you.
· Please do not leave your trash behind on the trail.
· Respect the sensitive habitats of flora and fauna.
You undertake the suggested hikes at your own risk and on your own responsibility.
We recommend hiking boots, a backpack, a hiking map and/or a mobile route planner, weatherproof clothing (e.g., rain gear), a hat, sunscreen, a first-aid kit, possibly a flashlight, and enough food and drink to keep your energy up (water, snacks).
The Red Grabenhäuserweg is a challenging loop. At the start, the trail leads uphill, passing a church and a chapel. It continues on a gravel path with views of Melk Abbey and the Danube power plant. The trail climbs gently again until km 3.35. In the forest, the route continues on a gravel road until you emerge from the woods at km 5.50, where you’ll once again enjoy a beautiful view of the Danube. The loop then leads back downhill on asphalt to the starting point.
Parking is available in the town of Klein-Pöchlarn.
Klein-Pöchlarn is accessible via the A1 Westautobahn; take the Pöchlarn exit. At the exit, take the first exit at the roundabout, then turn left after about 1 km and cross the Danube Bridge. Keep left; Wachaustraße (B3) leads directly into the town of Klein-Pöchlarn.
Coming from Krems or Grein, take Wachauerstraße (B3) to Klein-Pöchlarn. The road leads directly into the town of Klein-Pöchlarn.
Take the ÖBB to the Pöchlarn train station— check the schedule. From the station, take the bus to Klein-Pöchlarn— check the bus schedule.
