Jakobsweg Weinviertel: Stage 5: Stockerau - Kirchberg am Wagram

Please note: Due to the flood disaster and the resulting landslide, there is a regional detour along this stage in the area of the municipality of Absdorf (this is signposted locally with direction signs).

From Stockerau, the largest town in the Weinviertel, you pilgrimage towards Unterzögersdorf, Oberzögersdorf, Goldgeben, and Hausleiten. Here, the gently rolling landscape of the Weinviertel seamlessly transitions into that of the Wagram. From Hausleiten, you pass through the "Stirbweg Tunnel," which runs beneath the Hausleiten rectory, to reach Gaisruck. Lined with vineyards and surrounded by grapevines, the Jakobsweg from Eggendorf follows the Wagram cycle path. This charming landscape accompanies you on the way to Stetteldorf am Wagram, where the Jakobsweg Weinviertel passes through the cellar lane. On the way to Absdorf, there is a rest area perfect for a short break. After a junction by the Faltinger Cross, the Jakobsweg Weinviertel becomes an idyllic footpath leading up to the Wagram edge. After Absdorf, you follow the route of the Jakobsweg Weinviertel to Königsbrunn, then continue along the cellar lane up onto the Wagram and along the wine teaching path. After Unterstockstall and shortly thereafter the Origin Chapel Maria Trost, you arrive at the town of Kirchberg am Wagram, the stage destination.
