The Römerland Carnuntum Way of St. James joins the Camino Slovakia at the border near Berg and flows directly into the Vienna Way of St. James. The first stage leads from Wolfsthal to the medieval town of Hainburg an der Donau.

The pilgrimage trail starts at the pilgrimage church Maria am Birnbaum in Wolfsthal, marked by the scallop shell. From here, the path leads towards Hainburg through the Donau-Auen National Park and along the Danube, past the Röthelstein ruins. In Hainburg an der Donau, you will experience an impressive medieval town with well-preserved fortifications, narrow alleyways and historic buildings, before the trail leads over the Blutstiege to the Danube and on towards Bad Deutsch-Altenburg.
