Hiking tour Starting from Furth-Palt Train Station
The picturesque Weinrieden hiking trail leads through the characteristic wine landscape at the foot of Göttweig Abbey and offers fascinating insights into the regional natural and cultural landscape. It was created by the Furth Winegrowers' Association and can be started as a circular route at the "Park & Ride" facility at Palt railroad station.

The circular trail starts at Furth-Palt railroad station and leads through the gently undulating landscape of the Weinrieden vineyards. Along the way, there are wonderful views of Göttweig Abbey and the surrounding region.
The walk on this baby carriage and family-friendly trail takes around 1.5 hours and covers a distance of approx. 6.5 km through the Further Weinrieden vineyards and past traditional wine taverns.
The starting point is the Palt train station, where parking is available and public transportation is also an option. The trail leads westward to the “Schönkreuz” wayside shrine. From there, follow the Neuberg wine cellar lane along the wine cellars. At the end of the wine cellar lane, turn left—it’s about 1.5 km of gentle uphill walking to the Kastanie lookout point, where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the vineyards, the Wachau, and Göttweig. The trail continues through the Zellergraben Natural Monument to the rest area in the middle of the Zellergraben. Then turn right and continue southward across the Gottschelle, where you’ll enter the Kellergraben. Keep left there to stay on the Kellergraben and walk past the Furthner Winegrowing Museum.
Continue downhill to the Fladnitz, where you’ll keep left again to pass the middle school and public restroom. At the bridge near Adeg, switch to the right bank of the Fladnitz and continue to Palt.
Here in Palt, several wine taverns invite you to enjoy a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere: Winzerhof Hackner, Winzerhof Rosenberger, Weingut Zederbauer, Weingut Müller-Großmann, and Weinbaubetrieb Senftlechner. You can find out when each establishment is open on their respective websites.
At “Furth,” you cross the Fladnitz River and pass historic wine estates along Kühlhausgasse back to the train station.
This is a loop trail that you can join at any point and walk in either direction. Of course, the entire route is stroller-friendly and follows public, paved paths.
Parking spaces are available at the Park & Ride facility right next to the Furth-Palt train station.
