This connecting trail leads us from Wetzlarn to Maria Langegg and can be ideally combined with the DUR1 and DUR3. From Wetzlarn we hike through coniferous forests to Himmelreich, from where there is a wonderful view to Maria Langegg. From here, the trail follows in the footsteps of the elves' secret to Gansbach, where we can stop for refreshments. Refreshed, we head downhill to Hönigspitzmühle, where the trail leads to the pilgrimage site of Maria Langegg together with DUR3.
Sturdy hiking shoes, rain protection, enough drinks and food as well as a Dunkelsteinerwald hiking map.
We start our connecting path in Wetzlarn, a small village near Ambach, and approach the forest via a farm road past a large hall. Once in the forest we keep left and follow the yellow signpost towards Gansbach and Maria Langegg. Passing the turning to Karlstetten we walk to the next fork where we keep right and follow the forest path leading us through the quiet forests of Dunkelsteinerwald. Later we cross the Aggsbach and turn left a few hundred meters further. At the forest edge we slowly march towards Himmelreich, which awaits us after leaving the forest. On the way there wonderful panoramic views of Maria Langegg and the Dunkelsteinerwald open up. Arriving at the "White Stone", a bench invites you to rest. From here our path continues over the farm road to Gansbach. Around the marketplace some businesses invite you to refresh yourself before we pass the Raiffeisen bank and the school and head downhill towards Hönigspitzmühle. Once down there we turn left and prepare for the last ascent, because after a few hundred meters a steep path goes right directly to the Stations of the Cross and finally to the Maria Langegg Monastery. Once we have finally reached Maria Langegg, we visit the pilgrimage church and refresh ourselves in one of the two inns in the village.
