Description

The Danube cycle path in Lower Austria combines varied landscapes, historical places, cultural sites and regional cuisine along the Danube. The route leads from the Upper Austrian border at Grein via the Nibelungengau and the Wachau to Krems, on to Tulln, Vienna and via Carnuntum through the Danube Wetlands National Park to Bratislava.

As part of the EuroVelo 6 route, the Danube cycle path runs along the UNESCO World Heritage Danube Limes and connects the Atlantic with the Black Sea. Thanks to the low gradients, the route is particularly suitable for families and leisure cyclists. Between Upper Austria and Vienna, the cycle path is largely developed on both banks of the Danube and is divided into easily plannable stages.

Natural and cultural landscapes alternate along the route, including the UNESCO World Hertige site Wachau and the cities of Krems and Vienna. A well-developed infrastructure with accommodation, bike service and rental points - including e-bikes - ensures comfortable cycling trips.
