The best way to get to Emmersdorf is on the Wachau Railway.
You then cycle upstream on a flat section of the Danube cycle path with wonderful views. The first destination is the Weitenegg leisure center, which offers a beautiful child- and family-friendly bathing beach! There is a buffet with toilets and changing rooms, showers, pedalo hire, an aqua jump, surfing facilities, a children's playground and a beach volleyball court. It is also possible to hire a boat and admire the landscape from the water. Crossing the power station offers exciting views - perhaps a ship is just coming through the lock! - and also allows you to visit the sights of Melk on the opposite bank. The return route leads over the Danube bridge and back to the train station in Emmersdorf.

The route starts at the station in Emmersdorf. You cycle leisurely upstream along the Danube without having to overcome any climbs. Wonderful views are offered of the Melk Abbey opposite as well as the large white Danube ships. Along the way, you pass Luberegg, the longest natural sandy beach on the Danube. All water lovers and bathing enthusiasts find optimal conditions here when the weather is good. After a few kilometers, the Weitenegg ruin can be seen from afar, and you reach the Weitenegg leisure center.
The leisure center offers a nice, child- and family-friendly bathing beach! There is a buffet with toilets and changing cabins, showers, pedal boat rental, an aquajump, surfing opportunities, a playground, and a beach volleyball court.
There is also the possibility to rent a boat and admire the landscape from the water. A short piece back on the route and then you cross the Melk power plant to the other side of the Danube. From there, you cycle through the floodplain forest to Melk, which with its abbey definitely offers exciting variety. You then cycle back over the Danube bridge to Emmersdorf.

Emmersdorf is accessible by bus line WL 715 on an hourly schedule seven days a week (station Krems-Dürnstein-Weissenkirchen-Spitz-Aggsbach Markt-Emmersdorf-station Melk). The line connects Melk station (Westbahn) with the station in Krems (Franz-Josefs-Bahn). www.vor.at
