Where the southern Waldviertel gently extends to the Danube, where remarkable views over the Danube valley open up, lies the market town of Artstetten-Pöbring at about 390 m above sea level on the Austrian Way of St. James. Worth seeing are the castle museum and the crypt of the heir to the throne Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie Duchess of Hohenberg. The wooded area is suitable for hiking.
