The Melk 31 boat landing is located at the Melk pier. Danube stations No. 8 and 31 can be reached safely and conveniently on foot from the main road or from Melk’s city center via the lift bridge. This bridge is used exclusively by pedestrians and cyclists, so Melk’s old town is just a few hundred meters away.

Perched high above the Danube at the “Gateway to the Wachau” stands the world-famous Baroque Melk Abbey. For more than 1,000 years, Melk has been the spiritual and cultural center of the region, first as a Babenberg castle and then, from 1089 onward, as a Benedictine monastery. To this day, the town has preserved its old, compact townscape: romantic alleyways, Renaissance townhouses, historic town towers, and remnants of the city wall. Culture is a top priority in Melk. Events known far beyond the Wachau region, such as the International Baroque Days with the Melk Pentecost Concerts and the Summer Theater Festival, are held here.
