The highly talented composer Ignaz Joseph Pleyel was born in Ruppersthal in 1757 as the son of a village schoolmaster. The Pleyel Museum is the only memorial in the world dedicated to the life and work of the composer Ignaz Joseph Pleyel. Among other things, the museum exhibits selected and original instruments belonging to the owner of a world-famous piano manufactory and founder of the Salle Pleyel in Paris.
