"Building in the old" was already the motto in Bacharnsdorf in the Middle Ages. The massive ruins of the late antique burgus, over 9 m high, were integrated into the medieval townscape.

This makes the tower in Bacharnsdorf the highest preserved burgus on the Danube Limes. While the first floor appeared to have no window openings and the first level had two narrow slit windows, two large arched windows on the second floor provided a good view.
