Heaven and earth meet in Klosterneuburg, offering an invitingly diverse program of exploration and discovery. Klosterneuburg Abbey may look back on a nearly 900 year history yet what it offers today's guests is more current than ever.
A visit to the abbey begins in the Sala terrena, the incomplete garden room with imposing atlases by Lorenzo Mattielli. This visitor entrance created in 2006 was retained as a baroque construction site in the same unfinished state as when construction stopped in 1740. This concept earned the project the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage.
Multiple special-theme tours present Klosterneuburg Abbey in all its fascinating facets. Choose between Museum Tour, Winery Tour, Treasure Tour, Sacred Tour or Habsburg Tour.
And one other highlight was added starting May 1, 2011: the abbey treasure chamber is now open to the public for the first time.
