The Gruber Weitenegg inn in the district of Melk combines the best of two worlds: Traditional architecture meets a cozy interior. In the middle of the picturesque landscape of the Nibelungengau, right at the gateway to the Wachau, the two innkeepers Andrea and Johann Gruber are in their element. The lovingly run country inn has embodied the values of the region for over 25 years. The Waldviertel cuisine is the main reason for a stop at the inn. The genuine hospitality and attentive service staff are further pieces of the puzzle that complete the overall picture. The preferred choice on the menu is the Sunday roast from the Fritzelsdorfer Strohschwein or the crispy fried chicken. When it comes to desserts, the choice is difficult. The homemade pastries are excellent. The Wachau apricot dumplings with butter crumbs are bursting with regional flavor.

Land of milk and honey near Melk

The Gruber Weitenegg inn has made a name for itself not only because of its culinary focus. The garden with a view of the Weitenegg bathing lake is the talk of the town. A snack garden for young and old. In addition to strawberries and tomatoes, ten apricot trees and two vines grow and thrive here. A land of milk and honey of natural origin. Inside, the 400-year-old wooden beamed ceiling captures the history of the house. Comfortable guest rooms are available in the inn. That's a good thing. Nothing stands in the way of an excursion to Melk Abbey, Artstetten Castle, Schallaburg Castle or an extensive tour along the Danube cycle path.

The Wirtshaus Gruber is one of the treasures of the Nibelungengau. All other treasures full of enjoyment, variety and the best views can be discovered at www.nibelungengau.at!
