Advent Magic along the Danube

Charming Advent markets, tower music, Advent concerts and children's programs attract visitors to the loveliest spots along the Danube. In the three Danube regions Wachau-Nibelungengau-Krems Valley, Kamp Valley-Wagram-Tulln Danube Area and Römerland Carnuntum-Marchfeld, the local hotels and inns treat holidaymakers to a Advent season both peaceful and romantic.

The Wachau, a World Heritage landscape, is a perfect setting for Advent and Advent markets along with excursions and concerts. In the summertime, vineyards and orchards bloom gloriously along this stretch of the Danube Valley. When winter rolls around, nature and the locals enjoy a well-deserved break. Castles, monasteries and fortress ruins set in a spectacular landscape set just the right mood for Christmas.

Garden lovers can admire a true twelve acre Garden of Eden at the Kittenberger Themed Gardens near Langenlois. From November till Christmas, the 40 themed gardens are especially splendid, offering an extensive program for young and old.

Charming Advent Market in Tulln at the Monastery of the Friars Minor

The atrium of this former monastery becomes a colorful gathering spot for Lower Austrian artisans of all kinds - from tailors and seamstresses to makers of colorful items for children to jewelers, photographers and paper artists. The creative artworks make wonderful Christmas gifts.

Advent in Grafenegg

Advent in Grafenegg is one of the loveliest and most traditional Christmas markets in Lower Austria. This year it once again promises unforgettable hours full of art, culture and culinary delights in the unique setting of Schloss Grafenegg. Traditional artisan workshops and about 140 exhibitors present their premium handicrafts in the castle and along the circular path in the scenic castle park.
