Day 1: Spitz to Dürnstein
On day 1, you take the roller ferry across the Danube in Spitz to follow the ‘Cycling in the Wachau Tour’. The route continues along the Danube cycle path - from playground to playground and from sandy bay to sandy bay as far as Rossatz. Shortly before that, you can already see the giant Wachau nose in St. Lorenz. In Rossatz, the cycle ferry takes you back across the Danube to Dürnstein, where you can admire Dürnstein Abbey with its typical blue tower. On the way back, the Weißenkirchen natural bathing beach invites you to splash around.
Day 2: from Spitz or Emmersdorf to Weitenegg
‘The Danube is a lake’ - who would have thought it? You can see this for yourself on day 2 in the Wachau. From Spitz or Emmersdorf, young and old cycle to the Weigenegg leisure centre - with a family-friendly bathing beach on the Danube lake, aqua jump, pedal boat hire and everything else that water rats enjoy. Refreshed, the route continues via the Danube power station to Melk and, after a visit to the town, over the Danube bridge back to Emmersdorf. You return to Spitz on the Wachau railway.
Day 3: Spitz or Emmersdorf
There are excursion options in both Spitz and Emmersdorf. In Spitz, for example, you can visit the Hinterhaus ruins or take a walk to the Red Gate. In Emmersdorf there is animal fun with the Wachau Donkey Adventure.
