The Moser family is one of Austria's old and great winegrowing dynasties. The most famous scion of the family is undoubtedly the renowned viticulture professor h.c. Lenz Moser. Around 1950, he developed the high form of vine training, the so-called "Lenz Moser culture", which significantly simplified vineyard work in many places.
Today's winery was founded by his son Sepp Moser in 1987 in Rohrendorf im Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German), just one kilometer from the Danube. In addition to the vineyards (24 hectares) in prime locations in Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German), the estate also owns 27 hectares on Lake Neusiedl. In 2000, son Nikolaus "Niki" Moser took over the business. The organic freak and anti-tie wearer first converted the 54 hectares of vineyards to organic cultivation and then to biodynamic cultivation in 2006. Nikolaus Moser's aim is to go back to the roots, so to speak: "We produce wines from grapes from healthy vines that are an expression of the soil on which they grow," he says. In the cellar, too, everything is subordinate to one goal: It's all about getting the quality from the grapes into the bottle as gently as possible.
