In the picturesque wine village of Spitz an der Donau, nestled between the banks of the Danube and the steep terraces of the Setzberg, lies the traditional winery of the Stierschneider family. For generations, quality wines typical of the region have been vinified here with great care and personal commitment - strong in character, close to nature and deeply rooted in the Wachau landscape.
Vineyard diversity & origin
The estate's vineyards extend across renowned sites such as Tausendeimerberg, Setzberg and Singerriedel - sites that are known for their excellent conditions and microclimatic characteristics. The typical primary rock soils, the mild climate and the proximity to the Danube create ideal conditions for:
Grüne Veltliner - from the light Federspiel to the powerful Smaragd
Riesling - mineral, fruity and long-lasting
Complementary: Zweigelt, Gelber Muskateller, Pinot Blanc and others.
The focus is on wine culture that emphasizes origin, with sustainable work in the vineyard and the gentlest possible vinification in the cellar. The wines are characterized by elegance, freshness and a clear varietal profile - authentically typical of the Wachau.
Experience wine - tasting & sale
In the in-house wine sales room and during guided tastings, visitors get a direct insight into the range. Whether in a small group, as a group or as part of a vineyard hike - guests can experience the wines where they are produced. Individual wine seminars, commented tastings or snacks with wine accompaniment are also possible by arrangement.
In the best of company: gastronomy & wine hotel
The wine experience is rounded off by the adjoining Weinhotel Wachau - a family-run hotel with 35 cozy rooms, breakfast buffet and garden - as well as the Wiazhaus, which delights with regional cuisine and warm hospitality.
