Gebetsberger Winery - winegrowing with tradition in the Wachau region
The Gebetsberger winery is located in the heart of the Wachau, one of Austria's most renowned wine-growing regions. The family business in Spitz an der Donau looks back on a long history: the winery has been documented since 1859 and is now run by Stefan and Manuela Gebetsberger and their son Stefan Jr. with great personal commitment.
Location and vineyards
The vineyards of the estate cover an area of around 5 to 5.5 hectares and are located on partly steep, terraced sites on the slopes of the famous Tausendeimerberg. The vineyards include the Burgberg, Setzberg, Steinporz and Axpoint sites, which produce wines full of character thanks to their special microclimatic conditions and soils.
The focus is on classic white grape varieties, in particular
Grüne Veltliner
Riesling
Neuburger
Pinot Blanc
Chardonnay
The wines are predominantly vinified dry and are characterized by a fruity bouquet, clear structure and minerality typical of the region. The soil conditions - in particular weathered primary rock soil with loess content - give the wines finesse and longevity.
Wine sales and tasting
Visitors can get to know the wines in a relaxed atmosphere in the winery's own tasting room. The farm-gate sales are particularly popular in the summer months, and smaller group tours or tastings are also possible by prior arrangement.
In addition, the winery opens its wine tavern three times a year, where its own wines are served together with regional snack specialties. This offers a good opportunity to experience the wines in a convivial atmosphere directly at the winegrower's.
