In many households, the kitchen has increasingly become the center of life. It is the center of social gatherings. This homely kitchen flair can also be found in the "Schwarze Kuchl" inn in the heart of Krems city center. It takes its name from the historic Rauchkuchl, which was uncovered during renovation work in the 1920s. The kitchen team led by landlord Andreas Macher treats guests to an excellent selection of traditional and down-to-earth dishes. Upstream and downstream, the specialties of the house are highly appreciated: Wachau goulash with Einspänner, egg and gherkins and veal cream goulash with dumplings.
Culinary highlights in Krems
The "Schwarze Kuchl" has even more culinary delights to offer. Offal, salad variations or the homemade cheese spaetzle with fried onions and green salad are often ordered and served in style at the inn. The majority of the high-quality products are sourced by local producers. Fine fruity wines from our own vineyards and house beer on tap round off the menu. In the summer months, the small pub garden in the middle of Krems' pedestrian zone is the social hub. Time seems to stand still here, and the pub's credo is literally visible: "We don't live to eat. We eat to live." Because with excellent food, our lives become a little bit more worth living bite by bite.
