The exciting history of historic Danube navigation before the invention of the steam engine is on display at the Spitz Maritime Museum. Special guided tours for children and families! www.schifffahrtsmuseum-spitz.at

Hike to the Hinterhaus ruins: Many legends and tales surround the Hinterhaus ruins. It is said to be haunted to this day! Great panoramic view of the Danube valley, the Wachau and Spitz. Even better terrain for family games of knights and robbers! The starting point is the car park at the Maritime Museum, from there it's an easy 15-20 minute walk slightly uphill to the ruins.

Guided tours for children at Dürnstein Abbey: a chain of different coloured beads is used to explain the most important dates and stages from the foundation of the abbey to the present day. www.stiftduernstein.at
