Description
The Oskar Kokoschka House is the birthplace of the world-famous painter, who was born here on March 1, 1886.
Every year in the summer months from May to October, the Oskar Kokoschka House hosts the successful summer exhibition organized by the Oskar Kokoschka Documentation Pöchlarn, which is conceived by the Kokoschka Center of the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and put together with both its own holdings and loans from public and private collections.
Special exhibition 2026:
Kokoschka | Schiele | Networks
March 28 to October 26, 2026
The Kokoschka Museum Pöchlarn is dedicating 2026 to Oskar Kokoschka and Egon Schiele as modernist networkers and rivals. The focus is on their competition for recognition and their artistic and cultural networks in Vienna. Central exhibitions, influential collectors and patrons as well as the Academic Association for Literature and Music will be discussed. The show also sheds light on Kokoschka's early successes and the tension between recognition and rejection.
