The parish church of Stein - St. Nikolaus was mentioned in documents in the 12th century, parish rights from 1263 and the church was a vicarage church of Krems until the end of the 16th century. The Gothic choir from the second half of the 14th century and the late Gothic staggered hall from the second half of the 15th century have a late Gothic west tower. The church was baroqueized in the 18th century and regothicized around 1900. The interior renovation was only completed in winter 2019 and has shone in new splendor ever since.
