Meditationsgarten Kartause Aggsbach

The meditation garden at Aggsbach Charterhouse is intended to make the former cell wing of the monastery visible again in the form of "green architecture". This was the living area of the priest monks, who could each use a small house with a garden for themselves. Based on the results of excavations by the Federal Monuments Office, trellises have been erected precisely on the former remains of the walls and give an idea of the former buildings. The large cloister is planted with blue rain, the individual cell gardens with various climbing plants.

Text panels in the seven cells encourage visitors to reflect on the spirituality of the Carthusians and modern philosophy. A circular path along the perimeter wall provides a "view from above" of the gardens. The garden is also part of the "slow-light" project by Siegrun Appelt, who has equipped the grounds with discreet LED lighting.
