Discover fine wines at farm-gate prices, architecture in love with detail, inspiring cultural evenings, precious wine events and much more behind the Hundertwasser façade...
The 400-year-old building, lovingly redesigned by Hundertwasser architect Peter Pelikan, is a particularly fine example of how culture, indulgence and cultivated entertainment can come together in the most pleasant way.
18 winegrowers from the municipality of Schönberg present almost 100 different wines, which can be tasted in the beautiful ambience and purchased at farm-gate prices. In addition to sparkling wine, frizzante and fine brandies, there are other regional products such as Grossauer's fine preserves, honey and vinegar.
The spectrum of events ranges from fine art exhibitions, author readings and cabarets to concerts from classical to ethnic and down-to-earth, quirky Advent markets, wine festivals and private parties.
The Alte Schmiede is also the starting point for two nature trails in the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) Nature Park as well as many beautiful circular hiking trails.
Old Forge Gallery
A gallery room and the interior balcony are used for solo exhibitions by visual artists, and a biennial joint exhibition has also been established. The Alte Schmiede Gallery aims to cultivate the atmosphere of somewhat quirky lightness that the building conveys to its visitors in this beautiful place where many arts come together.
