Weingut Schmelz

The Schmelz family owns one of the most renowned wineries in the Wachau and the extraordinary "Wein-Bühne-Schmelz" is a real highlight. The modern and airy wine bar is extremely inviting with a beautiful view through the generous glass front and invites you to enjoy the excellent, award-winning wines. After Johann and Monika Schmelz had shaped the winery for many years and led it to many heights, the two have deservedly retired to the second row, but continue to support their son Thomas, who has been running the estate together with his wife Bianca since 2018. The enormous energy of brother Florian, who not only contributes his knowledge as a trained agricultural machinery technician to viticulture, is also indispensable. The vineyards extend over a length of around 10 km. As a result, they are characterized by different climatic zones and soils. These subtleties are brought to the glass with much love and dedication. The wines are characterized by fruit, minerality, varietal typicity and freshness - wines with that certain "SCHMELZ".
