"Honest viticulture without compromise" - this is Erich Machherndl's promising motto, who also embodies the "somewhat different Wachau" with his winery. At the heart of the winery, which has been family-owned since 1786, is a picturesque 13th century farmhouse with a modern, carefully integrated extension. The exquisite wines are pure, elegant, typical of their variety and have a fruity bouquet. Around half of them are Grüner Veltliner. The great Rieslings come from the stone terraces with slopes of up to 40%, many hours of sunshine and sheltered from the wind. Excellent natural/orange wines - mash-fermented, unfiltered and sulphur-free, such as the original "Pulp Fiction" cuvées of Frühroter Veltliner and Muskateller or Riesling and Grüne Veltliner, as well as Syrah produced without the addition of sulphur - are also of particular importance. The company has also been working organically since the 2015 vintage, with organic certification following with the 2018 vintage.
