The market town of Sieghartskirchen in the district of Tulln is part of two landscapes: the Vienna Woods in the east and the Alpine foothills in the west. The municipality comprises 24 cadastral communities. Exciting sights and a wide range of leisure activities promise wonderful excursions and vacations for the whole family.
Leisure activities in Sieghartskirchen: Hiking, cycling, horse riding
Quiet and well-marked hiking, cycling and riding trails across meadows and fields lead through the entire landscape. In summer, the fantastic adventure swimming pool offers a solar-heated pool and slide as well as the opportunity to play tennis. Sieghartskirchen also has wonderful campsites and a model airfield. A wide range of gastronomy - from Buschenschank (typical tavern) and wine taverns to pizzerias - ensures the physical well-being of visitors young and old.
The most important sights of Sieghartskirchen
From the baroque Gothic parish church of Abstetten to the ruins of Ried Castle dating back to the 12th century and Rappoltenkirchen Castle - there are numerous historical sights to see. Excursion destinations include the former riding post station (now the town hall) and the Roman tombs in Kronstein.
Plankenberg Castle, which was probably built from 1630, is also very well known: The landscape painter Emil Jakob Schindler lived here with his family from 1885. His daughter Alma (later Mahler) was to become world-famous in the first half of the 20th century as an important personality - and "femme fatale" - of the art and cultural scene. After several changes of ownership, the castle is now privately owned again and therefore cannot be visited.
There is also a historic Meierhof below the castle, which is still used for business purposes.
