Hiking trail no. 42 in Gföhl Beautiful views and evil fiends: to Gföhleramt Süd via the Kühberg to Tiefenbach-Dreiturnerberg (legend of the 3 giants)-Hussitenkreuz Galgenriedel
The mountain hiking trail over the Kühberg to the "Aussicht" at 654 m provides an insight into the geology of the 350-million-year-old gneiss highlands. The Gföhl gneiss, an orthogneiss, is a repeatedly transformed bedrock (plutonite) that forms striking rock towers and pulpits on the slopes, which have given rise to legends ("dragon legend"). The Hussite cross on the Niederlage commemorates the Czech Reformation War of 1426/27, after the reformer Jan Hus was sentenced to death at the stake at the Council of Constance; the gallows at the "Hanging Stone" was used by the lordship of Gföhl as a blood court until the 18th century.
