Marillenmeile Ost - Etappe 3

The hike starts at the western end of Rührsdorf and heads west along Mitterweg. After about 300 meters, we reach the cross street leading toward Rührsdorf. We follow this street for a short distance into the village, then turn onto the road heading west. After about 100 meters, we leave the road and follow the path to the right through apricot orchards toward the state highway and continue westward. Once we reach the highway, we turn toward the Danube and hike back to the starting point. The trail now runs parallel to the Danube all the way to Rührsdorf. Once there, we can stop for refreshments at one of the open wine taverns.

Near the Essl country inn by the Danube floodplain or along the federal highway.

Take the A1 Westautobahn to Melk, take the Wachau exit, stay on the right bank of the Danube, and continue toward Mautern.

Take the S 33 from St. Pölten via Mautern, then take the B 33 or S 5 to Krems—right bank of the Danube at Mautern—B 33.

Bus line WL 720, Rührsdorf Bundesstraße stop (near wine tavern Pulker), Walk 400 m west through Rührsdorf until you reach the first turn-off; turn right toward the Danube, then after 100 m, turn right again onto Mitterweg.
