This varied bike tour to some of the treasures of the Nibelungengau region begins in the charming Danube town of Pöchlarn. Right at the start, it’s well worth visiting the Oskar Kokoschka Museum in Pöchlarn, which offers fascinating insights into the life and work of the famous artist.

The route then continues leisurely along the Danube Cycle Path to Krummnußbaum. Here, the unique nusseum awaits you with an extraordinary collection of nutcrackers as well as culinary specialties featuring nuts.

The route continues along the Erlauftal Cycle Path to Erlauf. A visit to the “Erlauf Erinnert” museum offers an impressive historical insight. For a delightful break, both the Langer Erlauf, with its regional cuisine, and the Landhof Harrauer, with its homemade pastries, are inviting. Those wishing to stay longer can book cozy rooms with breakfast at the Landhof or take part in a baking class.

Refreshed, the route leads via Eichberg up to the Hochgreding viewing platform, where you’ll be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the region. Afterward, the route descends to the Melktal Cycle Path.

On the way back, you’ll pass through Ornding. Here, a visit to Oberleitner Gartenkultur and the Kürbiserlebnishof Heisler is highly recommended—perfect opportunities to discover regional specialties and artisanal products.

Finally, the tour ends back in Pöchlarn. The route perfectly combines nature experiences with regional culture and culinary delights.

Pöchlarn is accessible via the A1 West Motorway, exit Pöchlarn.At the roundabout, take the second exit and then continue straight toward the town center.
