From the Danube through the Erlauftal valley to Lake Lunz

If you want to experience river cycling in the Mostviertel region, the Erlauf Valley is the perfect place for you. Sometimes roaring, sometimes murmuring, and then resting in silence: this is how cyclists experience the Große Erlauf along the 60-kilometer-long Erlauf Valley Bike Trail. Starting in Pöchlarn on the Danube, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the mountains (the Ötscher peeks out in the distance time and again) as well as impressive river landscapes (such as the Erlauf Gorge in Purgstall).

On short exploration tours in Wieselburg, Purgstall, or Scheibbs, you’ll discover Brettljause, cider, and Scheibbser Kugeln. There are plenty of cozy places to stop for a break along the route. The flat section of the Erlauftal Cycle Path ends in Gaming near the famous Kartause monastery . Those looking for a challenge can tackle the mountain stage via Pfaffenschlag to Lunz am See. Families and leisure cyclists will find the connection to the Ybbstal Bike Trail at Lake Lunz. The Little Erlauftal Bike Trail is also a great choice for an enjoyable bike ride.
