From the urban area into the vineyards and back. This gravel route offers numerous nature and cultural surprises, beautiful views, and plenty of Heurigen to stop at!

Within minutes, you leave the urban hustle along the Traisen for the quiet surroundings of St. Pölten. The first flat kilometers along the river are ideal to warm up and forget everyday life. After Herzogenburg - a visit to the abbey is worthwhile! - you ride gravel-perfect on narrow field paths - partly paved, partly gravelly - through the vineyards of the lower Traisental. The castles of Sitzenberg-Reidling and Traismauer offer culture, and a section through the Ahrenberger cellar lane whets the appetite for a visit to the Heurigen.

Over the Paraplui Mountain (the name says it all -> umbrella (view!)) and the vineyards of Nussdorf ob Traisen as well as Inzersdorf ob Traisen, you gain some elevation before reaching the Traisental bike path again via Herzogenburg and leisurely cycling back to St. Pölten. Before reaching the city center, a dip in the cool waters of Lake Ratzersdorf is worthwhile.

    Author’s recommendation

Take time for the small and large sights! St. Pölten Cathedral, Herzogenburg Abbey, Traismauer Castle, and more - and check the Heurigen calendar! ;-)
