The stage starts in the wine village of Stratzing on a plateau between the Danube, Krems river, and Kamp. The Stratzing cellar lane and the local Ice Age Trail already invite you to a first worthwhile detour there. Subsequently, the route leads through extensive vineyards and a shady forest section along the Stratzing stream. It then goes first to Priel, then onwards to the destination Droß. After the beautiful landscape views on the way, the Fatima pilgrimage church and the Renaissance castle Droß are real eye-catchers. In the St. George’s castle chapel, some of Austria's oldest frescoes can also be admired. With these incredible impressions, the impressive hike finally ends.
The St. George’s Castle Chapel is a small Romanesque building from the mid-12th century with some of the oldest frescoes in Austria. The key for it can be picked up during opening hours at the municipal office of Droß.
