Charcoal and stone tools were found at several fireplaces on the Galgenberg near Stratzing. The most important find is the Venus of the Galgenberg, the oldest female sculpture in the world; it was made here, as evidenced by carving waste. The Venus of Galgenberg (also known as Fanny of Galgenberg) is a Venus figurine made of green serpentine. The statuette was found during the ongoing excavation on September 23, 1988. The stone sculpture is 7.2 cm tall and weighs 10 g. The back of the figure is flat, the front is sculpted. It has a dancing posture. This depiction gave it its nickname as soon as it was found: "Fanny - the dancing Venus of Galgenberg", after the famous dancer Fanny Elßler. At 32,000 years old, Fanny is not only the oldest work of art in Austria, but also the world's earliest stone depiction of a human being - a woman.
The original is in the Natural History Museum in Vienna. The market town of Stratzing received a copy and created the "Stone Age World Stratzing Adventure Park" around the site, where display boards provide information about life in the Stone Age. Opposite the town hall in Stratzing is the starting point of the approximately 1 km long Ice Age hiking trail. Numerous display boards along the trail provide information about archaeology, the excavations and interesting finds. The Galgenberg also offers a magnificent view of the surrounding vineyards all the way to Göttweig Abbey.

Around 25 kilometers up the Danube from Stratzing is the site where the Venus of Willendorf, which is around 7,000 years younger, was found.
