The abbey with its striking blue church tower and magnificent baroque church, which invites visitors to "discover the precious" with its permanent exhibition, and the Dürnstein ruins - once the castle of the Kuenringer dynasty - are particularly worth a visit. The English king Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned here from 1192 to 1193. The famous ruins are not only freely accessible all year round, but also offer magnificent panoramic views far across the Danube valley. In addition to slow train rides through the vineyards, the most beautiful hiking trails invite you to explore the ancient rock formations.
