There are around 50 trees from twelve different varieties native to the Wachau in the monastery's kitchen garden. In the glass house - the "apricot tree nursery" - there are one-year-old young trees, which you can also buy in the monastery store. The Aufreiter family from Angern helps with the care of the apricot trees and also processes the ripe fruit.

Various annual and perennial herbs are cared for by the kitchen team of the monastery restaurant and used in the kitchen. The four-legged companions therefore have to wait outside the garden.

There are also colorful vegetable beds in the apricot garden - take a look at the magnificent cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchinis and lettuces. The herb and apricot garden at Göttweig Abbey is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the warm season and admission is free.
