As the only arthouse cinema in Krems and the surrounding area, the Kino im Kesselhaus has been an important cultural venue for encounters and lively discussions about film culture since it was founded in 2005. The high chimney of the boiler house of the former Austria Tabakwerke from the 1920s (now Campus Krems) is the architectural and eponymous feature of the cinema, which is equipped with state-of-the-art cinema technology.

From Wednesday to Sunday, the program includes selected works of current international and domestic feature and documentary films (in German, but also in the original version with subtitles), film classics, children's films, short films, animation and experimental film programs.
Every Sunday afternoon, the children's cinema shows selected films for children and young people (sometimes with an introduction or film discussion with a film educator). On special occasions, magicians (such as the fascinating Thommy Ten) and puppeteers (Christian Bochdansky and others) also perform. For the very youngest cinema fans, a live recorded picture book cinema is on the program.

On Sundays, the film bar serves an extensive film breakfast with the audience favorites of the respective cinema month, which is particularly popular (reservation recommended).

And in the hot summer weeks, the cinema moves outside: In a unique setting amidst vineyards and modern campus architecture, the open-air cinema at the Kesselhaus shows a fine selection of film highlights from the cinema year and previews of the upcoming season on the big screen in the open air.
