Description

Landgasthaus Essl combines origin and attitude, tradition and zeitgeist. Since 2022, Philipp and Marie-Theres Essl have been running the restaurant together in the second generation - with respect for what has grown and the courage to consistently continue on their own path.
What has remained is the deep connection to the region. What has grown is the signature style. Philipp has been carefully and steadily shaping the kitchen line since 2012, developing it further from his parents' strong foundation and making it his own step by step. The official takeover of the restaurant finally followed in 2022 - since then, Philipp and Marie-Theres have shared responsibility for the kitchen, service and the overall direction of the restaurant.
The centerpiece is the Essenz:Menu - a culinary journey through the seasons. It captures what the fields, forests and Produced:ins are currently offering, tells of flavors and moods, of lightness, depth and craftsmanship. Each course is finely tuned, clearly conceived and implemented with respect for the product and its origin.
At Landgasthaus Essl, home cooking means more than just tradition. It is the conscious development of what is already there - the combination of traditional knowledge with new ideas, of down-to-earthness with precision, of memory with perspective.
This attitude is also reflected in the service, which is managed by Marie-Theres. With a keen sense of hospitality and atmosphere, she sees service as an independent, creative part of the overall experience. Here, too, ancient knowledge has its place: Oxymel is prepared in-house, kombucha is brewed and fermented on the premises. Traditional methods are given a contemporary interpretation and complement the cuisine in a natural way - as a non-alcoholic accompaniment or as part of finely tuned pairings.
Together, Philipp and Marie-Theres have also adapted the rooms to their understanding of gastronomy: open, minimalist, warm. A place that reflects the culinary - honest, sensitive and clear.
