Away from all through roads and yet only a stone's throw from Krems, visitors are enchanted by tradition and customs, the natural beauty of idyllic meadows and vineyards.

The market town of Stratzing lies on a high plateau in the middle of a wine-growing region. The Wachau, Krems Valley ("Kremstal" German) and Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" German) surround this enchanting landscape.

Its total area covers 584 ha, of which around 250 ha are vineyards (approx. 43% of the total area is used for viticulture). The area was already inhabited in the Palaeolithic Age, as evidenced by finds on the Galgenberg. In 1988, a 32,000-year-old female statuette (7.2 cm tall, weighing 10 g) was found here.

She is affectionately known as Fanny, the dancing Venus of Galgenberg.
