The Teisenhoferhof in Weißenkirchen, located in the heart of the Wachau, is a striking historical building with a rich history. Originally erected in 1335 as a Gothic building, it has served various purposes over the centuries, including as a defensive structure, courtroom and meeting place. The courtyard got its name from Heinrich Teisenhofer, an influential citizen who owned and remodeled the building between 1439 and 1465, including the construction of an inner courtyard and the Renaissance-style remodeling by Michael Gebl.

Today, the Teisenhoferhof is owned by the market town of Weißenkirchen and serves as a cultural center. It houses the Wachau Museum, which presents works by famous Wachau painters, as well as a wine and painting academy. The museum also displays traditional Wachau costumes and other folk exhibits. The courtyard itself is an impressive Renaissance building that has benefited from extensive revitalization, using historic materials such as brook sand and lime.
